Your Privacy on DewBee
Who should read this: You — if you're the student using DewBee to plan your revision.
This is a separate notice just for you. There's a longer, more legal version for your parent or guardian, but this one is yours. It's written so that you can actually understand what happens with your information. We've tried to keep it short.

Who runs DewBee?
DewBee is run by Tim Houghton, trading as Revision Planner (ICO registration ZC140847). We're based in the UK.

What information do we hold about you?
Here's everything we store about you — and why:

What we do NOT collect about you
We want to be clear about what we're not doing:
- We do not collect your mood, emotions, or how you're feeling.
- We do not store anything about your health, a diagnosis, or any learning difference you might have.
- We do not track your location.
- We do not run advertising on DewBee — full stop. Your data is never sold or shared with advertisers.
- We do not use cookies to follow you around the web.
- We do not create a profile of you to sell to anyone.
- We do not compare your progress to other students.

What happens with the files your parent uploaded?
When your parent uploads a curriculum guide or exam timetable, that file goes to an AI (Claude, made by Anthropic) which reads it and pulls out: your subjects, exam board, exam dates, and revision topics.
Nothing from your DewBee account — your name, email, year group, confidence ratings, or session records — is ever sent to the AI. We have an automated check that stops us releasing the app if that ever stops being true.
One honest exception, because we'd rather tell you than let you assume: the AI does see the document itself, exactly as your school wrote it. These are usually general documents for your whole year group — but if your school happened to print a name on one, the AI would see that too, because we send the page as it is. We ask your parent to have a look before they upload.
After the AI has read the file and returned the topic list, we don't keep the file at all. We don't save a copy anywhere, so if your parent wants to add more, they upload it again. What we do keep is the list of subjects and topics the AI pulled out — that's your plan.
Anthropic, who make the AI, keep a copy of the file for up to about 30 days to check nobody is misusing their service, and then delete it. They don't use it to train the AI.

Who can see your information?

Why is it legal for us to store your information?
The legal basis is that you are the direct person the service is for. Your parent signed up and pays so that you get a revision plan. The law (UK GDPR, Article 6(1)(b)) says we can process the information that's strictly necessary to actually provide that service to you.
We don't ask for anything we don't need to make your plan work.

How long do we keep your information?
We keep your information for as long as your parent's subscription is active, plus 30 days after it ends.
After that, everything is deleted — your email, your name, your plan, your subjects, your confidence ratings, and your session history.
If you want your information deleted sooner than that, you can ask us any time (see "Your rights" below). We'll sort it within 30 days.

Your rights
You have rights over your own information. Here's what they mean in practice:
See your information. You can ask us to tell you exactly what we hold about you. Email hello@dewbee.co.uk and we'll send it to you within one month.
Fix something wrong. If your name, year group, or anything else is wrong, email hello@dewbee.co.uk and we'll fix it.
Delete your account. You can have your DewBee account deleted at any time, and you do not need your parent's permission. Email hello@dewbee.co.uk and tell us you want your account deleted. Everything gets deleted within 30 days, and we'll confirm when it's done.
Object to processing. If you think we're processing your data in a way that isn't fair, you can object. Email us and we'll look into it.
Complain to the ICO. If you think we've done something wrong with your information and we haven't resolved it to your satisfaction, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) — the UK's data protection regulator — at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or by calling 0303 123 1113.
You can exercise any of these rights yourself, without your parent having to do it for you.
